Dear First Unitarian Congregation and Friends,
On behalf of the YRU2 Youth Group, I want to thank you for your continued generosity and support of our fundraising for our upcoming Mission Trip in April, 2015. On November 23rd, our high school youth, along with the choir, sang a beautiful song called "We are the Earth," written and composed by Jim Scott in recognition of global climate changes that cause natural disasters such as Hurricane Sandy. During the 50/50 collection that day, the youth were generously given approximately $1000.00, with $550.00 coming from one private donation!
Throughout the months of November and December, the youth sold hand-made jewelry made by women in Uganda who earn a portion of the proceeds to support their families. The youth sold over $1700 in jewelry, earning them a percentage of those proceeds which exceeded $700, including private donations.
All of this was made possible by your support of our youth! We currently have more than 14 youth and adults traveling to New York in April, 2015 to help with the Hurricane Sandy relief project, which is a program supported by the UUCSJ and led by Rev. Susan Karlson. Your financial support will help us reach our goal of spending four days in New York helping rebuild and restore homes and neighborhoods affected by the devastating hurricane in 2012.
It is with appreciation and love that we thank you!
On behalf of YRU2 Youth Group,
